Decorating For Christmas: Fine Art

Decorating For Christmas: Fine Art | Hayle Olson | www.hayleolson.com

Thank you to Minted for sponsoring this post.

November thru the end of December has always been one of my favorite times of the year. Between Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, it’s just a happy and joyful time! It’s a time to reflect, give back, and spread kindness.

With Christmas being one of my favorite Holidays to celebrate, it’s also my favorite to decorate for. When decorating my apartment I knew I would want to switch out some of my wall art to add to the festive cheer.

For those of you that know, I LOVE wall art. I worked with Minted back in August and I knew I wanted to work with them again for this post. They have such a wide variety of fine art prints and I’m in love with them all!

My current color palette for my winter decor is a combination of black, gold, and white/silver. It was quintessential for me to find artwork to match what decor I already owned. Needless to say, this was pretty easy — as I mentioned earlier, Minted has a wide variety of artwork to choose from.

With a cozy candle lit and a Starbucks coffee in hand, I was ready to start decorating! After hanging my stockings, switching out my sofa pillows, and placing small decor pieces here and there, I was off to set up our tree. Thankfully it was pretty easy. We have a pre-lit artificial tree. It probably took me a whole 30 minutes to get it setup and have all the branches “fluffed” to perfection. Next, I was off to change out our artwork!

If you’re interested in seeing all of this in action, then head over to my YouTube channel where you can see me decorating my apartment for Christmas. I also vlogged this day, if you’re interested in that as well!

But enough about decorating, let’s get into the details of the fine art pieces that I picked out from Minted.

Tone & Texture.

I fell in love with this piece simply because I have such a strong desire to have a fireplace. A crackling fireplace is the epitome of cold winter months. Because I don’t currently have a fireplace, I wanted to add this black and white photograph of a wood log pile.

I love how the depth and shade of the wood changes, the two halves greatly contrasting.

Then when it came to the frame, I chose the ‘Distressed Cottage White’ wooden frame. I feel that this frame ties into the other white pieces I have in my living room and the distressed wood pulls on the fact that the photo is of wood logs.

Frost 3.

Evergreen trees covered in snow is one of my favorite things to see in the winter time. When I saw this piece of art, I knew it needed to be in my apartment.

The piece itself flows well with my other decor, remaining simplistic but really brings the wintery feel inside. For this frame, I chose to go with the classic ‘White Wood Frame’. This is the same frame that you would have seen in my Decorating Your Dorm Room With Art post.

I loved how our little snowman matched perfectly with this piece of art. The two complement each other, being both simplistic and rustic.

Stamped Forest.

Something else that I decided to pick up while I was browsing the Minted website was some wrapping paper. I found one that matched my current decor color palette very well. It also kept with the simplistic theme.

The wrapping paper is all white and has black evergreen trees stamped all over it. I happily purchased 5 sheets sizing at 20″ x 28″ per sheet.

I am one that loves it when everything matches and looks “pretty”. To have matching wrapping paper is just the icing on the cake!

I highly recommend you head over to Minted if you’re interested in getting some artwork for your home. I’ve purchased both single prints and framed pieces for around my apartment and the quality never ceases to amaze me. I’ve always wanted to fill my home with artwork and I’m so happy that Minted has allowed me to do just that! They also have some amazing greeting cards & invitations — perfect for weddings, birthdays, and holidays!

What is your favorite way to decorate for the holidays? Do you love Christmas as much as me? Let me know down in the comments!
