Women’s Health: Exploring Plan B One-Step
Today’s blog post is going to be a little bit different in that I’m going to be opening up a discussion on Women’s Health. Specifically, Plan B One-Step. Although I’ve never found myself in the situation of needing Plan B, I’ve always found it extremely important to educate myself on the matter and be aware of the options for emergency contraception.
In this post, I’m going to be educating you, opening up the discussion, and debunking some myths about Plan B.
Myth 1 – The “Morning After Pill” is full of chemicals
False. Plan B is actually very similar to many common birth control pills. It has the same active ingredient, levonorgestrel – just at a higher, single dose.
Myth 2 – Plan B is only for people in their early 20’s
False. Over half of the women that use Plan B are 25+. There is a slight misconception that younger women only use this product, but there is no specific “type” of women who use emergency contraception.
Myth 3 – I won’t be able to have children in the future
False. Taking Plan B One-Step does not affect your future (long-term) fertility. You’ll still be able to have the family you’ve always dreamed of.
Myth 4 – You need a Prescription to Purchase Plan B
False. Plan B is actually very simple to purchase! You can even find it at your local Walgreens. I found this one in the feminine products/sexual wellness aisle. But yours may be behind the counter at the pharmacy, it differs by location. If you’re looking for the product and cannot locate it within the store, you can always ask the pharmacist and they will be able to help. Also, here’s a $10 off coupon for you.
